The epic narrative builds strong, intensely motivated social networks.
A dark side: The complexity and immense scale of modernity tends to deprotagonize people as social beings. Resorting to simplified, self-aggrandizing narratives preserves or constructs a false sense of dignity; a semi-permeable data bubble which skirts into outright delusion when challenged to preserve itself.
